Coldplay what kind of piano

I own a cpm and it is not the same piano. The cpm has real keys and strings, 73 keys, a iron frame for stretching the strings, and 2 strings per note different from real piano on bass It sounds unique and great.

It feels like a low action upright, has a sustain pedal, and even has midi from !!! The piano can be amplified in mono or stereo, but also plays fine acoustic quiet. It is amplified via piezzo pickups along all the strings.

What else Oh, and it folds into it's own roadcase!!! I've seen Elton John vids where he's playing a midi'd grand piano.

No reason why a band like Coldplay couldn't have a custom upright piano controller fabricated. It's not. It's a yamaha digital piano with hammers in a nice box. I believe they were sold around ish and I was under the impression that they were sold in europe and were very expensive basically an fair priced upright normally would cost.

It has midi, but it doesn't have strings. Midi can be added to grand pianos or uprights, but that's not the case with this. Well there is an article on Yamaha's website specifically mentioning a Coldplay performance using a GrandTouch piano.

But there are videos on YouTube clearly showing him playing another instrument with inverted key colors that is not the same instrument. So there is more than one instrument in use, making the instrument in question a little harder to define.. Coldplay's piano. Start new topic. Recommended Posts. Some photography courtesy of Charlotte MacMillan. The Vision. Hope In Something Broken. Creating the Pianos. The Transformation. Even bought a second one just in case. The second one sits in a Baby Grand shell that I de-pianoed and looks and sounds cool There are several piano sample voice libraries available for both it and the Motif ES over at motifactor.

Some are better than others. I really like the virtual piano collection. Check out the forums and you will find which collections are considered good. I really like the keyboard action of the Motif XS8.

Yamaha has always had a "weird" implementation of the workflow in their workstations. To some people this is a hinderance, but to me, it is a lot of fun. I did check out the Fantom G with its "ivory" keyboard. I think that having the ability to load piano samples into the XS is a great thing. Kramster's idea of being able to feel the vibes in your digits is probably important to a "real" piano player keyboard is a "second" instrument for me, os those nuances are not as important to me.

But there is also the Yamaha CP that has built in speakers and sounds great. In digital pianos, Roland, Yamaha, and others are all doing a good job these days. Of course, Craig's list at least in our area seems to always have somebody either giving away a "real" piano or selling them very cheap.

I get hums and buzzes and when i do rolls and runs, the keyboard forgets the first 10 notes by the time I get to the upper register Its as if the sustain is half of what a acoustic piano should be I have taken it in to a specialist and they could not fix it I have also went in to the settings and changed the sustain length I would like to get a good, quality acoustic piano that is about as small as you can get for an acoustic.

I dont mind it being heavy and awkward to carry at all, being that I do a moderate amount of playing out.
