Then I'll get fit with what I have. Cheers, J. Tags: None. Re: Fairway Woods - Bending? Comment Post Cancel. Dec 27, , AM. The initial review on this site noted the hosel to be bendable by up to 2 degrees, but when I contacted Taylormade to confirm that I got some noncommittal response i. Has anyone had experience bending the retail heads? Or should I just be looking for a tour issue head with flatter lie? Titleist TS3 9.
Curious 3 posts. Valtiel 3 posts. April 13, The mold makes the process a whole lot less risky since it distributes the holding pressure all across the club. Every other place that will bend your club is going to do it similar to the second. Bending woods is always tricky and there is always a chance the club breaks but it can be done.
The Vans used to heat up the hosel then bend it. You'll be able to see the bluing from the heat. I have a tour issue head and it seems to also be upright. I would go to a club maker and have their opinion. I'm pretty sure you can adjust it degrees without impact.
I am playing a M2 The actual head lie does not change, just the angle of the club to the ground based on length. Thanks for the replies. I've been in contact with Will Peoples who is willing to give it a try for me if need be, but going to check with a local builder first who does a lot of work with our local D1 team. Hopefully I have some success and don't break the club, but I'll post back either way I asked Joe Kwok the same question, and he would not bend an M2 Fairway for fear of breaking it.
Maybe an equally fair question is has anyone actually tried to bend one and had it break? It seems like we're all afraid to do it, but I haven't actually heard of anyone breaking one.
Interested in this as well. Got a 3HL from tmpo but it feels like it was made for someone 8 feet tall. Pretty much every swing is a heel dig for me. So many of the new taylormade and callaway fairways and hybrids are terribly upright. I'm short so i notice this quite a bit.
Many of the newer fairways will have these upright lies and no one will bend them. AWT 2. Your best luck might be with a builder who works with the Wishon heads one of the few, if not only designer of heads that are actually designed to be bent for adjustment.
I struggled with my Ping G15 20 degree hybrid since the day I bought it, and I almost gave it away last week. A clubmaker friend suggested that I take 1" off the length. I let him do it and he had the club back in my hands this past monday with a new grip and swing weight at D I have been hitting balls with it for the past 2 days and I love it. It is much more controllable now. The flight is a little lower than before and it doesn't balloon into a breeze like it did before. I can see it being my go to club on tight par 4's.
That's what I had read, but then hadn't actually found anyone who had experience bending them and couldn't get Taylormade to confirm it for me. Have yours been bent flat then?
No issues with breakage I assume since done through TM? I like the idea of contacting a Wishon builder, turns out there is one locally, who knew? Reached out to him by email just now I haven't had any issues bending the m2 fairways at all TM M2 Don't think I'd go more than that on this particular club. It had a weird feel. I bend a lot of callaway fairways with no issues. Just to round out this discussion, I owe a special thanks to ifixclubs who offered to bend the 3 wood flat and open for me - He did the work very quickly and was beyond generous with his pricing.
I received the club back a few days ago and it looks great. Haven't had an opportunity to hit it yet but it sets up much nicer in my hands. So, it is possible! My problem is that I have not been able to find fairway metals or hybrids that are flat enough for me to swing consistently. In my normal setup with a driver, the head rests on its heel and the toe is angled several degrees above flat. That's OK because the ball is teed up, but I can't do that with the fairways or hybrids without catching the heel and hooking.
Do LPGA pros have custom made fairway metals and hybrids with flatter lies, or do my eyes deceive me? Why don't manufacturers make such choices available to the general population?
John, Thanks for you kind comments about my book "Just Hit It". You might want to share these thoughts with your friends so they too can enjoy what I have written.
