Businesses came and went on the south shore of Hutchinson, with little else on the island through most of the 20th century, though there were grand plans. One stab at development came with the thundering roar of Indy cars, on a taxpayer funded track. Ironically, in the '80s and early '90s, Hutchinson would play a role in a popular golfing event, as a target.
We built a golf tee and commenced to hit golf balls across the river. Ansley himself made a yard plus drive to Hutchinson in , but now the view from that tee has changed, and you can see the towering Westin.

It's been a very, very positive evolution and it does your heart good to see what has happened to this island and community.
