Gomez complemented the stars of what was to become the Alaska s dynasty, by providing rugged defense and pinpoint shooting, particularly from beyond the rainbow arc, usually off the bench. He hit big shots in crucial situations and provided opportunities for his teammates just by being a threat on the floor as a marked man whom the defense could not take for granted.

He was part of nine champion teams during his tenure with the franchise and, although not mentioned in the same breath as several of the Alaska greats, he will go down as one of the team's top contributors. Steal - None. When you are as big as he is, expectations are either too high or almost kaput, considering earlier players of his size or thereabouts. Lumbering but good-natured, he turned out to be a serviceable big man who learned how to use his bulk and height unlike many before and after him with that size as a key contributor on four championship teams in his nine seasons.

He was named the league's Most Improved Player in Overlooked because he was overshadowed by more flashy players, Racela entered the league as a willing, scrappy backup point guard, but did not earn much playing time from the get-go. His career really took off after he moved on from his original team to the San Miguel Beermen in , with whom he stayed for 15 seasons. At one point, he was perhaps the top point guard in the league two-time Mythical Five, three-time Second Team , a member of the national team, and a rah-rah leader who played with contagious enthusiasm and energy.

He won nine championships seven with San Miguel and retired at the age of 41 still ready and raring to help his team in any way. Chosen just two picks behind Racela, he also emerged as a valuable contributor after moving on to the San Miguel Beermen three years before Racela, in The scrappy big man was seen as overmatched early on, but he found his niche with SMB as a willing defender of the opposing team's top big man, whether local or import four-time All-Defensive Team , and a player who knew what positioning on rebounds was about, particularly on the offensive end.

Known as "The Scavenger" for the way he turned garbage loose balls into gold baskets or preserved possessions , he was a favorite teammate to many because he did the dirty work no questions asked.

Abuda was part of eight championship teams in his career one with Coney Island, five with San Miguel, two with Coca-Cola. He has won a few more as an assistant coach alongside Racela with the Barangay Ginebra squad in recent years. The nature of this steal is quite peculiar. Bolado was known as a gentle giant who showed flashes of potential with occasional thunderous dunks and feats of brute strength as a modest contributor for each of his teams from time to time.

He was a part of the Alaska Grand Slam and, despite being traded from one team to another from to , his teams made it to the Finals in ten straight conferences. Well-liked by teammates and fans alike, Bolado was larger than life. His lucky-charm status grew each time his teams made it all the way to the championship series, thus ensuring squads would be willing to have him on their rosters.

Unfortunately, his good fortune ran out when, in his retirement, he figured in a fatal motorcycle accident in Cambodia, where he had moved and established a business. He passed away at just It was destiny in for David when he signed with Ginebra San Miguel after not sticking with the team that drafted him and first returning to the PBL with Stag to win a couple of titles with Marlou Aquino, who joined him at Ginebra. That was the start of a career where "The Flash" became a Ginebra legend because of his lightning speed, exciting style of play, and exhilarating shot-making ability.

Search his greatest hits on the internet and you will find some heart-stopping sequences wherein David connected on seemingly impossible heaves with nary a second left, to either force extensions or grab wins outright. David was part of two championships in his year career, all with Ginebra. He made grown-man opponents cry on several occasions during playoff runs.

Once considered a long-shot after being taken deep in the draft, he merited a Mythical Second Team selection in Not bad at all for the last pick of the third round of his draft class.

He went on to play 12 non-descript pro seasons many more than several drafted ahead of him as a deep back-up guard mostly for the Talk 'N Text franchise whose forte was defense three-time All-Defense.
